Sacred Heart High School, a
Christian (Catholic) Minority Institution, is a
co-educational school from class 5 to 12. Medium of
instruction is English with Hindi/Bengali as Second
Language. Curriculum includes Religious Instructions
for Christians, Moral Science / Value Education for
others as compulsory subjects.
School reserves the right to make alterations in
fees. Every year tuition fees are raised by 10-15%.
School is recognized by the Education Department,
Government of West Bengal, under the Anglo Indian
Board of West Bengal and affiliated to the Council
for Indian School Certificate Examinations, New
Delhi.
Academic year begins in April.

THE BEGINNING
- 1962 June, Sacred Heart Primary School started by His Grace Archbishop Henry D’Souza, then Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Church, Kharagpur, as a small school with 3 teachers and 25 students in the Parochial Hall. Late Fr J Lazarus SJ was the first Principal.
- It started out of concern for poor Catholic children of the parish community and of Kharagpur. Gradually with able assistance of late Frs Joachim Osta and Gilbert Pinto the Primary School building came up
TIMES GONE BY
- 1969 Sacred Heart High School started because primary students could not continue studies due to non availability of English medium schools. Need for a high school was felt so Fr John Turner with the help of a couple of college going students took the drive.
- St Agnes School came forward to help the boys of Sacred Heart High School Initially the newly set up High School was an extension of St Agnes School Sr Yvette AC was the Principal of the boys section of St Agnes School Soon after Fr John Turner took charge of the school Land was petitioned from the Railways, different donors came forward with financial aid to construct the school building and a huge structure came up.
- 1971 January Sacred Heart separated from St Agnes boys section, recognized as Sacred Heart Higher Secondary School with science stream
- 1987 December 10 foundation stone laid for the science block, under the able guidance of Fr Joy C D’Souza, the then Principal
- 1990 August 16 new block inaugurated
- 1996 ISC section with Commerce stream introduced
- 2006 girls introduced to high school
- Presently it is called Sacred Heart High School.
